Shift

since 2016

I have designed Shift since July 1, 2016, joining as a Designer five months before the public launch on Product Hunt that December. Promoted to Senior, then Principal in 2025. Throughout these ten years I have worked alongside the same product partner, growing from Director of Product to VP.

v1 was not a browser. It was a desktop app unifying multiple Gmail accounts in one window. Today Shift is a full browser. With native AI.

Through every pivot I was the one who shipped the team's product direction, and the design conscience that kept the visual language coherent. The brief never changed: Shift has to work for anyone, not only power users.

**Spaces in the sidebar**Each Space groups its apps. Switch Space, switch context.

**Build your browser**Drag icons and sidebars wherever you want. Pick a template, or build from scratch.

**Tabs within apps**Open multiple tabs of the same app, scoped to it. Monthly Active Users in one Mixpanel tab, Daily in another.

**AI in the browser**Chat in the sidebar while you browse. Ask about the page, or about anything else.

**Edit a Space**Search the catalog, add apps to your Space.
